Joe Wagner - Senior Pastor

Joe grew up just south of here in Marion, Il. He graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He earned his masters degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Joe is married and has 3 children. He is an avid sports fan. Yes, he loves the Cubs. His passion is to know Jesus more!

 

 

Kevin Wright - Minister of Traditional Music/Senior Adults Kevin Wright

Kevin was born in St. Louis and grew up in Collinsville, Illinois, graduating from Collinsville High School in 1971. He earned a Bachelor of Music Theory and Composition degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1978, and a Master of Church Music degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky in 1980.

At age fourteen, Kevin taught himself to play the guitar and soon after, began sharing his music in area churches. Since 1974, when Kevin began serving in Southern Baptist churches, his fingerstyle guitar playing has continued to be a part of his ministry.

In 1971, Kevin won first place in a Young America Talent Contest here on the main stage of the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. Thirty years later, in 2002, coming full circle, he and his wife, Judd, and sons, Christopher and Jonathan moved to Du Quoin when Kevin accepted the position of Minister of Music and Senior Adults here at First Baptist Church.

Kevin has recorded two CD's and has had several musical compositions published. His other interests include bicycling, astronomy, and photography.

Matt Schaub - Youth Pastor

Matt grew up in Muskegon, MI before moving to Rock Spring, GA as a teenager. He graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Education. His passion for teaching is now being guided by his desire to see the Gospel being brought to Middle and High school students. He and his wife Brianna have a son, Peyton.
